Villain ROM 3.0 Beta 2

As the title suggests, this is a BETA build. THAT MEANS, THERE ARE
BUGS... more so than in 2.1. It seems pretty stable, and very fast...
which is the aim of VillainROM.

So... to the GOOD/Changes:

- 2-3 times faster than VillainROM 2.1 (seriously)
- All protected apps in market (FULL Market access as usual)
- Lots of free Memory
- NEW Google Maps 4.0 for ROOT users (NAV Outside of US working)
- Google Search by Voice Working
- Several Languages, and keyboard languages working
- Chinese Keyboard working
- Back to Hero Bootanimation
- Network location working
- AOSP Android News & Weather Widget included (I like this widget)
- Good battery life compared with previous versions
- Sim contacts NO LONGER pull through on every boot
- PHONE CALLS no longer get missed/routed to Voicemail
- Bluetooth Audio through headset etc, works perfectly



WORKAROUNDS & Included Apps

- Stock Browser REMOVED. Replaced with Dolphin Browser. New Dolphin
supports very fast multitouch & google voice search... Easily better
than HTC Browser.
- Added Vanilla Contacts. You will need this in order to sort your HTC
People. If you're getting all of the Facebook contacts showing up in
contacts, you can change this to Google Contacts only in Android
Contacts. The changes will apply to your HTC Contacts App.
- Added Handcent SMS ( Some minor bugs in messaging app). Handcent is
excellent, and cures the problems itself (REMEMBER - Turn off
notifications of stock messaging app)
- Overclock Widget (you know what to do with this...)
- TWITTER WIDGET & PEEP GONE. Replaced with HTC Plurk, which will be
the 2.1 Twitter app
- Included APN Droid.

TO THE BAD/KNOWN ISSUES

- As already mentioned, standard browser doesn't work.
- Calendar + Calendar Widget BROKEN (Removed)
- Cannot access HTC Album from Camera
- Music App doesn't work properly (Try Mixzing or Rockon)
- People Widgets look very ugly (Unsure why at this stage)
- Weather app taken from HERO21 1.8 works, but has black and white background.
- Gmail Push very odd. Works for some, not for me. I do get my emails,
as it seems to sync more regularly, but I'm sure it's not pushing.


PLEASE TEST EVERYTHING!!!


INSTALL GUIDE:

- Nandroid Backup
- WIPE - THIS IS ESSENTIAL, OR WILL FC CONSTANTLY.
- Flash the ROM
- Follow Setup Wizard (Add Google account, and make sure you select
wireless AND data networks). Once you get to Facebook setup, add the
account. It will hang, but if you press back, it will have synced
fine. Odd..
- once booted, reboot (as always)
- Open stock android contacts and set it up how you want it.
- Open HTC People, and set to default. Everything you set in Android
contacts will apply in here
- TEST TEST TEST!!!
