Review: Here at Hero-Roms, this is our most favourite Rom. This Rom is very stable and runs at a decent speed. The boot time is not the best at 1 minute and a half but we can live with it.. It includes all of the 2.1 features such as voice search, Google Navigation, improved market place apart from the 3d gallery. This Rom has a new theme which we really like. Compared to the last version of SenseHero 2.1 this is a huge improvement because it looks nicer and the keyboard and overall OS seems far more responsive. If you are holding back on 2.1 because you think it will be slow and unstable, why not give SenseHero 2.2 a go.

when you are in the recovery, just do a "nand backup", than wipe everything, and flash the new ROM ; )

ReplyDeleteThe ROM appeared to install OK, but when it boots I get an animated "Sense HERO" splash screen, and it just stays there forever.
ReplyDeleteI've done a wipe, re-downloaded and re-installed the ROM, no difference.
If I restore the nandroid backup of my previous ROM (one of the MoDaCo ones) it works fine.
Every 2.1 ROM I've tried has the same problem. Any ideass?
Just installed and tested this and everything works ok except for the GPS fix... seems to be an ongoing problem with all 2.1 roms, anyone else having this problem?

Dave, I have found that the first time I boot up with any of the 2.1 roms I only get as far as the splash screen, I end up having to take out the battery and reboot sometimes twice before it boots correctly

ReplyDeleteRory, you can delete all those contacts (it is syncronized anyway), and backup all your sms to your gmail account (SMS bckup - from market) and delete them, and than it's solved.
Jarno, as I know we don't have dutch yet.
Dave.. have you checked the version of you hero's radio? I have reason to think that this may be the problem..
ReplyDeletewhen is first flashed 2.1 rom I didn't know what the radio is.. and I flashed without updating the radio.. and I had the same problem you have now.
But when I updated it, boom, problem fixed.
Be sure that you have this ver: 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26
I found the problem with not being able to install this ROM (or other 2.1 ROMs for that matter).
ReplyDeleteI had to clear my ext partition on my SD card, then the install went fine.
This ROM looks great so far - only problem I've had is that it's spontaneously rebooted twice now in the last 12 hours.
I installed this rom i like it allot and put the inverted clock widget and now it is really finished till now no problems.
ReplyDeleteI did the first boot with the rom and i see no htc widgets, no clocks nothing at all. Is it only me having the problem or someone faced the same issue?

Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications force closes on me every time. Anyone else know how to fix this?
ReplyDeleteIve tried just about all the 2.1 roms for hero now and this is by far the best. it doesn't have htc's friend stream which is a bit disappointing as a heavy face booker, that aside tho it looks and feels great, doesn't lag and contains almost all the 2.1 features, im gonna keep a back up of this in case the official update sucks! thanks :)

Love this new update. Phone runs much faster and generally seems to have much more memory available.
ReplyDeleteAnyone know why the Go Boom font seems to be missing some characters? I have a load of the accented ones just as little question marks or blank spaces, and the calculator functions don't display in the calculator.
The ROM itself is amazing though :-D can't fault a single thing about it

ReplyDeleteI had a recurring problem with the long load screen but I tried to install without doing a full wipe. After a factory reset, and a reinstall of update.rar it worked perfectly.
Works very well on my swiss hero. Would be nice to have the option to hide contacts stored on the sim though, other than that so far is perfect.

ReplyDeleteI played around some more with the rom and i find it the best of the ones i tested on my hero.
On the stability part in "normal" usage it behaves flawlessly, however I managed to get some random reboots (as mentioned before by dave i think). I'm not sure if its something to do with the camera or some switching of the apps (when one app opens another). Best way to reproduce it (in my hands/on my phone) is to install google goggles and play around with that for a bit. Most of the times after 5-10 mins of taking pictures/switching to browser to look it up the phone will reboot. I got the same reboot yesterday without the goggles app. but don't remember what app I was using. It could be a fault of the camera or of the app (since goggles is beta).
I absolutely adore this rom! One major problem though! I cant send any smses! I can receive them and call fine, just not send any of my own. Any ideas?

I realised that once my wireless is on, i tend to not be able to send out msgs. :). hope this helps..
if screen saver is on you cant controle the volume of the music (also not on headset-mode).

I havent been able to send any smses regardless of whether wireless is on or off. This is really strange. My sim obviously works, as I can call and receive calls and smses fine, I just can't send them. HTC Hero, Telenor network in Sweden..

ReplyDeleteI've just wiped my Modaco 3.2 ROM and installed this Sense Hero 2.2... first impressions are very good. I do have a question though, does 3G data connectivity work? The reason I ask is that I can only connect via wifi, 3g does not work at all... if it helps I am a UK user on the Orange network.

ReplyDelete3G works for me well.Just the camera does a reboot now and again but the rest is flawless. No idea what radio i have didn't change those things since i got the phone.
ReplyDeleteReverting the radio back to the previous settings I had for Modaco did the trick, full 3G data flowing nicely :-) Job done!

for everyone having problems with wireless, GPS and Data connections MAKE SURE! you flash the lastest Radio image, it solved all my problems and works like a stock HTC on 2.1! (i imagine)

ReplyDeleteyou need smsc # for your carrier... it's like a gateway for sms msgs i just had that prob today, dial *#*#4636#*#* on your keypad and it will take you to a phone test, and at the bottom you need an smsc #, your carrier should be able to provide it to you.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY MY WIFI CANNOT ESTABLISH A CONNECTION AFTER FLASHING THIS ROM!?
I can see the networks around me but every time i hit "connect" nothing happens....???
Tried to download but link doesn't work!!! Please Fix!!
